Hot Chip has announced their seventh album A Bath Full of Ecstasy. The nine-track album will be released on June 21 via Domino. The group has unveiled the complete tracklist as well.
To push the album announcement, Hot Chip has released the first single “Hungry Child” and its subsequent video – a six minute jam that has a bit of funk, disco, house and indie pop all combined into one dynamite record.
Directed by Saman Kesh and featuring Martin Starr (Gilfoyle in Silicon Valley) and Milana Vayntrub, the video is a trip and a half. The music gets stuck in the bodies of the two main characters and starts to project from them as they attempt to figure out what the hell is going on. The two comedic actors take you down various twists and turns with some funny interactions with other people in their life, like the house music hating neighbor.
Recorded in Paris and London, A Bath Full of Ecstasy finds the group working for the first time with outside producers including Philippe Zdar (Cassius, Phoenix) and Rodaidh McDonald (The XX, David Byrne and Sampha).
The album artwork was created by Turner-prize winning artist Jeremy Deller and Fraser Muggeridge Studio.
This is their first record since 2015’s Why Make Sense and seventh overall. Hot Chip will tour pretty extensively the rest of the year with spring dates in the UK, Europe and North America and a slew of festival dates over the summer. Then they will do some big headline shows in the fall in many of the same markets. Get info and tickets here.
