Nipsey Hussle, real name Ermias Asghedom, has died at the age of 33. The Grammy-nominated rapper was killed in a shooting outside of his store in Los Angeles that also left two others wounded according to the LA Times.
Nipsey Hustle was rushed to the hospital, where was pronounced dead. In his music and outside of it, he spoke candidly of his early life in a gang and the streets.
Born in LA, he became well-known as a community organizer and was involved in the new Destination Crenshaw arts project. He opened a Marathon Clothing “smart store” and a STEM eduction center called Vector 90 in Crenshaw.
He started putting out music in 2005 with a series of mixtapes that started to gain attention from other notable artists and earned him a reputation among a core street fanbase. His 2013 mixtape Crenshaw really started to see his stock rise among the rap community. His debut album Victory Lap was released in 2018, featuring Diddy, Kendrick Lamar and others, was nominated for Best Rap Album at the Grammys.
Hussle is being remembered by greats all across music now as the word has spread of his dead.
