Coachella is done and dusted and we are in the home stretch coming up on summer festival season. Chicago is home to a slew of big festivals all summer long as the long winter freeze finally thaws and it is time to enjoy those fleeting months of sun and beautiful weather. Spring Awakening has been an integral start to the season in Chicago and returns this year with another huge lineup with names all across dance music. Among those who will headline 2019 include Zedd, DJ Snake, Martin Garrix and Illenium.
The festival brings a varied lineup of mainstream acts, plenty of bass and house music. Among some of the other house acts on the bill include Luttrell, Claptone, Chris Lake, Codes, Golf Clap and Dom Dolla.
As they have done in the past, there are plenty of locals who help to fill out the lineup and showcase the type of talent Chicago is producing. There will also be a few special and intriguing sets like GTA playing a purple set, Flosstradamus going b2b with 4B and a “detox set” from Excision.
Three labels and party brands will curate their own stages in 2019. Anjunabeats will take over the Hangar Stage on Friday with Andrew Bayer, Gabriel & Dresden, Jason Ross, Spencer Brown, Oliver Smith and Tinlicker all performing. Saturday, on that same stage, React’s Bass Kitchen will be cooking with Cookie Monsta, Liquid Stranger and others. Destructo will host his own stage with All My Friends featuring Dombresky, Matroda and more on the Function Stage also Saturday, June 8.
Spring Awakening has moved to historic Poplar Creek in Hoffman Estates, IL. Sitting on 27 acres of land, it is nearly three times larger than Addams/Medill Park, which gives them more of opportunities to build bigger stages and get creative with production.
Spring Awakening will take place June 7-9. Tickets are still on sale on the website. With 45 days until SAMF, things should be getting busy and fun really soon.
