Kyle Watson has been blowing up in the past year or two. The South African DJ released his debut album Into The Morning at the end of 2018 and has been touring the world hard ever since. He is ready to unleash his first EP of the year tomorrow tiled Landmine and we are happy to premiere the title track today.
“Landmine” lives up to its name, though it is much less dangerous. The tune has the thumping bass you want from Watson and some of the g-house flare you might expect on a Dirtybird release as a deep vocal from Blak Trash repeats “blowing up like a landmine.” Deep sub bass provide a strong undercurrent with sporadic spacey fx layering the track as each drop builds.
“I'm really happy with how ‘Landmine’ has come out. I actually heard Blak Trash' s vocal snip first, he sent me a bunch of stuff and that vocal just stood out. As soon as I heard it I imagined how ‘Landmine’ could play out as a full track, and used that vocal to base the concept of the record off.”
The record has the quality and potential to blow up this summer with its catchy vocal and pounding dancefloor power, so keep an eye out. "Landmine" will be released tomorrow, May 2.
