Tinder is trying to get into the festival game. No they aren’t throwing their own, but looking to make your festival fucking a little easier and accessible. It is launching a feature for all users today called Festival Mode that allows users to showcase what festivals they are going to over the summer with badges.
In partnership with AEG Live & Live Nation, the two largest festival operators in the United States, users will be able to select from 12 festivals in the US and UK like Governors Ball, Bonnaroo, EDC Las Vegas and Parklife according to The Verge.
The app will then prioritize potential matches for those festivals, even if that person is outside of their normal radius. So if they are traveling for the festival, you can still match with some out of town person to meet up at the festival.
This may run into the obvious snag that internet is garbage at festivals and trying to meet up with people can be a crapshoot. However, it may be another way for people to quench their thirsty decisions and hook up with someone at a festival. There have been apps that have tried these types of ideas or connect via a certain genre of music, but we will see if this can take off with Tinder.
