Hot Chip have revealed the video for their new single “Melody of Love,” released today. The video sees the group donning many different faces, like the many faced god, and putting an emphasis on various human expressions. This is the second single to emerge from their upcoming album A Bath Full of Ecstasy.
The new song is a bit more subdued than the funky party-starting first single “Hungry Child.” The group’s vocals shine with a heartfelt message of love over a soft rising synth line that develops with more layers and a chugging bassline. Rodaidh McDonald produced the track.
The song began as a 12-minute instrumental with a sample from gospel choir Mighty Clouds Of Joy (who are still in the record) and then morphed into its current form as a delicious pop song.
Nima Nourizadeh directed the video that finds the band and various other people’s heads isolated in boxes of various forms and colors, as the camera focuses directly on them. The faces quickly change and even morph under different lighting and projections.
A Bath Full of Ecstasy will be released on June 21 via Domino. It follows their 2015 LP Why Make Sense?
