When you ask people for lists of classic electronic records, it is rare to find someone giving you a list that doesn’t include 808 State. The pioneering electronic music band got their start in the late 1980’s and became an integral part of the movement of electronic music bands in the early 1990’s with Orbital, Underworld and The KLF. Their 1989 single "Pacific" propelled them to new heights, getting serious radio play and charted in the top 10 in the UK. Now 30 years on from that track, the group has announced two new EPs out this summer.

The first EP is Initial Granada Report, which will be released on July 12. The lead single “Tokyo Tokyo” is out now with a slowly building acid bassline that embraces minimalism.

“We’re trying to make a future for other people to immerse themselves in. It feels a bit like an imaginary landscape. That’s always been a big part of 808 State, when you go back through the music: these kind of landscapes of futurism,” says one half of 808 State Graham Massey in a statement.

The EP gets its name from where it was recorded -- former home of the North West broadcasting giant Granada. The studio was where The Beatles recorded a TV appearance in 1963 and the 808 State in 1989.
