The 100 Most Expensive CDs of All Time On Discogs
When you think of expensive music listening, your first thought likely goes to rare, out of production and unique vinyl. Whether it is a rare demo, a different color or a large box set, vinyl is king when it comes to price. CDs can also be expensive as well. This isn't you burning your buddy's Limewire music onto a CD, but box sets of rare material. Discogs put together a list of the 100 most expensive CDs every sold on their site and the prices are remarkably high. All 100 of the CDs were sold for over $1,000.
The top CD comes from Coil, which had a 6-CD Live Box sell for $3,226. A four CD Bob Dylan greatest hits box set sold for $2,657. At number three, Heather Nova's album South sold for $2,025. That must be a big fan. The two that follow are massive box sets. Elvis Presley released a 30-CD set called The Elvis Presley Masters, which sold for $2000. Then Toru Takemitsu’s Complete Takemitsu Edition has 58 CDs and sold for $1,999. Others in the top 15 include Wings Wings 1971-1973, which sold twice, some Grateful Dead and Pet Shop Boys. The top 15 is rounded out by Bob Dylan The Cutting Edge 1965 – 1966: The Bootleg Series Vol.12: Collector’s Edition.
