Nils Frahm has announced a new album All Encores, which will take his Encores EPs and combine them into one LP. To help push the song, he has released a new record “All Armed,” which will be a part of Encores 3 and has been a part of his set since 2015.
Even though Frahm released an album All Melody in 2018 (named one of our best last year) and has been touring extensively off of it, he has been quite prolific over the past year. He released Encores 1 at the end of 2018 and followed that up with Encores 2 earlier this year.
Encores 3 will be released on September 20, while the full 80-minute album will be released on October 18.
Each of the EPs represents a different part of his music. Encores 1 was acoustic with an emphasis on soft piano, while Encores 2 was filled with soft, flowing ambient records. Encores 3 will see him expand into more percussive and electronic elements.
The idea for All Encores started before All Melody, but his 2018 album became an idea of its own and broke it up.
“The idea behind All Encores is one we had from before All Melody; to separate releases each with their own distinct musical style and theme, perhaps even as a triple album,” explains Frahm in a statement. “But All Melody became larger than itself and took over any initial concepts. I think the idea of All Encores is like musical islands that compliment All Melody.”
