German experimental electronic producer and Berghain resident Barker, real name Sam Barker, has made his debut album Utility available to stream today ahead of its release on Friday.

The Leisure System co-founder has released several singles and EPs over this decade, but now he is ready with his debut album. Much like his previous work, the album moves between various elements of electronic music with ambient elements, bits of techno, fluttering melodies and modular synth work that include some self-built mechanical instruments. It brings together psychedelic melodies that help create the image of a utopian world we should hope to build. It is an easy and hypnotic listen from start to finish.

This is a great album for a rainy day at home (it’s fuck all raining here in New York), while still maintaining energy for DJ sets.

Listen to the stream now on Hypem and get ready for the full release this Friday, September 6 via Ostgut Ton. Pre-order here.
