Kanye West has announced the release date for JESUS IS KING. This time is seems to be real because multiple press released have stated the release date. Kanye putting it on Twitter helps, but is less official given how he moves release dates on a whim.
His ninth studio album is set for release this Friday, October 25, to coincide with an IMAX film of the same name.
JESUS IS KING is now available for preorder in a variety of formats, including digital, limited edition blue vinyl (see above) and CD, along with exclusive merchandise offerings at shop.kanyewest.com.
This follows his 2018 albums ye and Kids See Ghosts with Kid Cudi. There have been all sorts of rumors about him finding god and hating profanity. He apparently wants to make only gospel music and feels bad about his role in the music industry. We will see if any of that applies to this album or is just conjecture.
You might just get a sense of the “new” Kanye this Friday or he could pull it and not drop the thing on time.
He will premiere both the album and the film on tomorrow, Wednesday, October 23rd at a listening and screening at the Forum in Los Angeles.
UPDATE: Actually...... Kanye did not release this on October 25, SHOCKER, yes I know. He instead shared a tracklist and said they were "fixing mixes on 'Everything We Need' 'Follow God' & “Water.'"
We will see about that. Glad to see no one is on the same page with this album.
UPDATE 2: He did actually release the album on October 25, just a little late in the morning. Read our review here.
