MasterSounds and Union Audio are proud to announce the release of the new MK2 version of their flagship Valve range of hand-made esoteric DJ Mixers, marking 15 years of MasterSounds’ successful history. With the Valve MK2, producers can now enjoy an elevated level of playability and audio manipulation, thanks to the addition of VariableQ high pass filters per channel, a redesigned 3-band EQ, and RIAA input stage, plus Innofader as standard.

Designed by Union Audio’s founder, Andy Rigby Jones, who has been at the forefront of analog DJ mixer design for over 25 years, and MasterSounds’ founder, Ryan Shaw, whose history in DJ and audio has pioneered an incredible and revered line of high-fidelity audio products from DJ mixers, FX units, turntable weights, and more, each Valve MK2 unit is hand-crafted in small numbers by Union Audio in Cornwall, England.

The Valve MK2 range encompasses the true spirit of its predecessor, with its esoteric principles of sound and simplicity. It now includes added playability, making it a real gem to experience for discerning DJs, from club and bar owners to home DJs. With its club-standard feature set and beautiful open, dynamic, and transparent sound, Valve MK2 perfectly balances functionality and sonic quality.

“It’s hard to believe that five years have passed since we launched the original FourValve, but it’s a fitting anniversary on which to launch the new MK2! The addition of VariableQ high-pass filters and an all-new EQ adds another level of playability and audio manipulation. The new MK2 comes fitted with an Innofader as standard and a revised RIAA preamplifier, which along with all the other changes makes this a significant update on the previous model,” said Andy Rigby Jones, Union Audio’s founder and MasterSounds MK2 Valve Series’ product designer.

Ryan Shaw, MasterSounds’ founder and director, added, “We are so very proud of Valve, and the addition of the new features in our MK2 model elevates the DJ mixer’s playability for discerning DJs, from club and bar owners to home DJs.”

The MK2 Valve is available in both 2- and 4-channel options, with MasterSounds’ classic black and silver finishes. The Radius Two Valve is priced at £1895, while the Four Valve model costs £2695 (minus VAT for buyers outside the UK).

The Valve MK2 range boasts several impressive features. The power supply, for instance, is external, and each mixer is supplied with a compact switch-mode power supply that works anywhere in the world. The external power supply is universal, operating at 90V – 265V AC 50/60Hz 18v 50W Max. The DC Internal Power Rails are +/- 18V DC.

In terms of audio performance, the THD+N OdBu Line In to Mix Out is 0.05%, while the +10dBu Line in to Mix Out is 0.1%. The frequency response is 20Hz to 120kHz: +1/-2dB, while the noise unity Line In to Mix Out is -86dBu unweighted, and the residual Mix Noise is -110dBu unweighted.

The Valve MK2 range also boasts a high-pass filter frequency range of 18Hz – 1.8kHz, a dynamic range of >116dB, and a maximum signal level of ±27dBu. The Headphone Output Power is 800mW RMS into 32 Ohms.
