Robot Koch’s latest project, Foam and Sand, has produced a remarkable ambient album that showcases his keen intuition and precise touch in crafting music that moves listeners. His second full-length album, released under Nettwerk, is filled with dynamic swells and lush sonics, demonstrating Koch’s mastery in creating ambient textures and sounds.
Additionally, Koch also shares a mini-documentary about the Float Tank Experience at Into Mesea Space in LA, where he invited a few fans to listen to the new Foam and Sand Album ahead of its release, floating weightlessly in a floating tank, being fully immersed in the music.
These events follow his recent partnership with the Monroe Institute, the educational and research organization, for the global awakening of human consciousness.
As Foam and Sand, Robot Koch has charted a thrilling new path in what has already been an accomplished career in the ever-changing world of electronic music. His second full-length and first for Nettwerk is a masterwork in ambient textures and sounds, bursting with emotive swells and lush sonics at every turn. It takes someone with precise touch and keen intuition to make ambient music that moves you, and Koch has indeed accomplished that goal and more with this record, cementing the project as an exciting new prospect in the ambient world overall.
Foam and Sand were born from the COVID-19 pandemic after Koch could not tour behind his most recent release as Robot Koch, The Next Billion Years. Koch experimented with tape loops in his Los Angeles studio, leading to the organic growth of Foam and Sand. The project’s simplicity, resulting from Koch’s interest in the beautiful imperfections of loops and his fascination with science, spirituality, music, and consciousness, creates transformative music that rivals legendary ambient composer Harold Budd’s work.
