On May 19th, This Never Happened posted a story with two things–a date, 5/23, and Luttrell’s iconic mustache icon, while Luttrell posted the same, replacing the mustache icon with the This Never Happened logo. Now, he’s unveiled his latest single, “Darling / Waves.”

The mustache man is back at it with two driving melodic house tracks. ‘Darling’ features a simple arp evolving into a beautiful cacophony of melodies, pads, and more arps surrounded by drums that hit just right–not too hard, and not too soft. Luttrell manages as always to deliver something that never loses interest, even if it focuses on only a few repeating elements throughout the whole track, which is aided by his use of a break in the intro of ‘Darling.’

‘Waves,’ with vocals from Vania, fails to disappoint. The thoughtful lyrics and vocal processing dance around stabs and ear candy that lend themselves to a rewarding and hard-hitting drop, making this track perfect for any environment. The drop goes full-on drums with a hint of bass, similar to Jax Jones’ and Jem Cooke’s ‘Crystalize’ released in 2021, with the first drop making an emphasis on a bass stab that’s sure to excite anyone, anywhere. The melodies carefully bring you out of the drop into the next verse, keeping you wanting more with a grand finale in the last drop.

Luttrell is touring this summer, and he’s not one to miss. He’s even going b2b with Yotto at the iconic Red Rocks in November, so he’s definitely not slowing down!
