The Status Audio Between 3ANC True Wireless Earbuds is an impressive addition to the true wireless earbuds market, offering a combination of active noise cancellation (ANC) and high-quality sound reproduction. These earbuds are designed to provide a seamless audio experience, whether commuting, working out, or simply enjoying your favorite music. 

They are priced at $250, go head to head with the Apple AirPods Pro (2nd Gen) model, and hold their own on most accounts.

Design and Comfort:

The design of the Status Audio Between 3ANC earbuds is sleek and minimalist, featuring a compact and lightweight build that fits comfortably in the ear. The earbuds come with three different sizes of silicone ear tips to ensure a secure and personalized fit for each user. They also have an ergonomic shape that sits securely in the ear, providing stability during movement. They are bigger than AirPods Pros, which might not be for everyone, but we had no issues with keeping them in with minimal fatigue.

Pros: They look sleek/modern and stand out from the crowd of AirPods Pro / AirPods users.

Cons: Slightly bigger than some competitors

Sound Quality:

The sound quality delivered by the Between 3ANC earbuds is exceptional. The 10mm and two armature drivers produce clear and well-balanced sound across the frequency spectrum, with punchy bass, detailed midrange, and crisp highs. The ANC technology effectively blocks out external noise (-38db worth is what’s stated), allowing you to immerse yourself fully in your music or podcasts. The sound signature is well-tuned, providing an enjoyable listening experience for various music genres. You can also use the Status App to dial in your sound to get it just perfect.

Active Noise Cancellation (ANC):

The ANC feature on the Between 3ANC earbuds is quite impressive. It reduces low-frequency background noise, such as a train’s rumble or an airplane engine’s hum. While it may not eliminate all ambient noise, it does a commendable job of providing a quieter environment. The transparency mode is also available, allowing you to quickly and easily hear your surroundings without removing the earbuds. We dramatically reduced noise by wearing them in our open-plan office while playing music. Pair these with the Endel sound app, and you will be in workplace heaven and get right into that flow state.

Battery Life:

Here is where the extra size comes in! The battery life of the Between 3ANC earbuds is excellent. With ANC enabled you can enjoy up to 8 hours of playback time on a single charge and 12 with it off. The included charging case provides an additional 24 hours of battery life, allowing for 30 hours of use before recharging. The case itself supports USB-C charging and also features wireless charging compatibility.

Connectivity and Controls:

Here is where things get a little wonky for us, but by no means a deal breaker. The AirPods offer excellent connectivity and integration if you are an Apple person. That being said if you are a Mac and iPhone person, that can be a massive pain as your Airpods bounce from device to device. The Between 3ANC will not be as seamless, but you don’t have to deal with the device bouncing and have more sound control with the EQ on the app.

The Between 3ANC earbuds utilize Bluetooth 5.2 (Airpod Pro 2 are 5.3) for a stable and reliable connection, but we do wish they offered aptX for a higher sound quality, but that would certainly bring the price up. Pairing the earbuds with your device is quick and hassle-free. The touch controls are where things got a little funky for us; we couldn’t get them to move in real time with the swipes. So getting the volume just right was always an issue, unfortunately. Otherwise, the earbud controls are intuitive and responsive, allowing you to play/pause music, skip tracks, and answer calls.

Additional Features:

The earbuds are IPX5-rated for water and sweat resistance, making them suitable for workouts and outdoor activities. They also feature a built-in microphone for hands-free calling and voice assistant support, allowing you to easily access your phone’s voice commands. Six beamforming mics make your calls crisp on Zoom, slack, or regular phone calls.
