The Dutch trio, Kraak & Smaak, have made a significant impact on the music industry with their latest album titled “Twenty”. This dynamic album comprises twenty tracks filled with funky grooves and warm synths, embodying the essence of this summer’s vibrant sounds. It showcases a captivating blend of instrumental compositions and collaborations with talented artists like Lex Empress, Durand Jones, Sam Duckworth, and many others.

Kraak & Smaak, consisting of Oscar de Jong, Wim Plug, and Mark Kneppers, have established themselves as both exceptional live performers and studio artists. We first fell in love with their sound after hearing the infectiously funky 808 groove on “Way Back Home”, since then they’ve been a mainstay in the sound of summer house music. Their exceptional craftsmanship can be experienced through the funky basslines and melodic grooves, in tracks like “Hold Back Love”, “Money In The Bag” and “Good For The City”, just to name a few.

“Twenty” album spans across various genres such as hip hop, bossa nova, disco, funk, and more, all recognised for their uplifting and soul-warming sound. The album impressively encompasses a wide range of instruments, including electric/acoustic piano, an array of percussion instruments, guitar, and a diverse collection of synths. As a testament to their versatility, the group even ventures into more experimental territory in their choice of synths, with tracks like “Dynamite”, leaning towards the realm of hip hop. The entire album is pure joy, with Oscar, Mark and Wim proving an absolute triumph in their field.
