narou, a Berlin-based producer who’s also lucky enough to spend time in Bali, takes us on a journey with soulful melodies and indie-tinged guitar rhythms for his new album, “otherside”. This diverse and captivating album brims with meticulous attention to the production, with plenty of joyful moments that transport us to the sounds of Maribou State, Khruangbin or Pedestrian.

A standout feature of this album is narou’s blending of energetic drum patterns, adding momentum to tracks like, “upside down”, “low tide”, and “again and again”. These are then juxtaposed with slower, soulful tracks like, “strawberry fields” and “hombre”, filled with warm synth chords. His choice of vibrant chords paired with Rnb vocal melodies, intertwine to create a emotionally charged and immersive experience for listeners.

During the pandemic, I embarked on a journey, spending over a year in Bali. It was there that I crafted all the songs on this album using just my computer and a guitar. These songs serve as a vibrant manifesto, reflecting my experiences and the realization that I am now living the life I have always dreamed of. This collection of stories and lyrics celebrates my escape from the hustle and bustle of city life, immersing myself fully in nature, and discovering the profound truth that life encompasses so much more than mere work. I made it to the otherside where life is abundant and I am truly at peace.“
