The enigmatic Japanese producer, boys be kko, makes a triumphant return to Labyrinth Records with his electrifying EP, “Pico”. The EP features two versions of his track “Pico” and a third track titled “Kanari”. Infusing the exotic sounds of Japanese instrumentation with a captivating house beat, presenting a fresh and alternative take on dance music. The EP’s focus lies in elegantly weaving dance-centric elements, such as textured drum work and richly layered melodies.
Maintaining a deep connection with his homeland, the artist drew inspiration from the traditional Japanese “Karesansui” gardens. These serene gardens consist solely of stones and sand, symbolising the ocean, waves, ripples, and islands in an imaginative expression of nature. The EP’s artwork mirrors this creative inspiration, reflecting the profound connection between music and nature.
“Pico (Radio edit)” emanates a groovy vibe, reminiscent of afro house, with lively percussion and shakers that infuse a summery atmosphere. The melodies resonate with a distinctly Japanese-infused melodic scale, seamlessly blending various styles.
“Kanari” takes a darker turn, characterised by a haunting bassline that drives the track forward, accompanied by a thumping beat and mysterious synths. As the tension builds, the track transforms into a tech-house groove, radiating club-ready energy and dynamic flair. The dark edge, growling bass, haunting melodies, and pulsating FX transport the dancers to otherworldly dimensions, making it a true heads-down roller.
The result of boys be kko’s masterful craftsmanship is an EP bursting with infectious energy, crafted perfectly for summer festivals and parties. Its euphoric blend of different styles ensures that “Pico” will captivate and enchant audiences, leaving them with unforgettable dancefloor experiences.
