British-American music producer and entrepreneur – Daniel Jahmal Clarke, has recently unveiled his highly anticipated single “Sexy House Thang” along with its captivating music video. Recording under the aliases D.J.C., D.A., and Urban Enigma, he showcases his dynamic presence in the music industry. His innovative spirit shines through his brainchild, NexGen Music, an acclaimed record label that specializes in various styles and genres of underground and cross-mainstream music.

Daniel conceived the concept for this single back in 2010 while hunkered down in a humble Brooklyn apartment, with his then girlfriend, and now beloved wife and the mother of their two adorable children who are also featured in this production. Drawing inspiration from the vibrant New York music scene, Clarke connected with a diverse group of exceptionally talented musicians. Some were introduced to him, while others were chance encounters that sparked collaboration.

For this specific composition, he embraced a unique approach. Each musician was given the freedom to improvise without prior knowledge of what the others had contributed. The result was an extraordinary amalgamation of raw piano, saxophone, and guitar improvisations, spanning countless tracks.

For years, he never held any expectations of doing justice to the incredible takes they had contributed. Life and other professional interests took precedence, causing the project to be set aside time and again. The sheer magnitude of the material overwhelmed him whenever he dared to open it during those years. But, in the midst of 2018, long after he had relocated from New York to Washington, D.C., he mustered the determination to take action. It took approximately another six months to develop the foundational elements of the track, until a fortuitous encounter with Georges, known as ‘Bijoux,’ the primary vocalist, in early 2019 breathed new life into the project.

Late one night, a stroke of inspiration struck Daniel, giving birth to the infectious hook, “Sexy House Thang.” Without hesitation, he contacted Bijoux, and simply asked him to say, “It’s a sexy house thing.” The effortless and natural delivery of those words resonated deeply, confirming that they were onto something special. Urging George to rush over to his studio, they laid down the vocals, and the rest, as they say, is history.

Originally slated for a 2020 release, “Sexy House Thang” encountered an unexpected hurdle with the arrival of the COVID-19 pandemic. Faced with this setback, Daniel made the decision to hold off for a while. Recognizing the importance of complementing the release with visually stunning content, he and Bijoux embarked on months of storyboarding sessions. Eventually, they reached out to Neil Sanford, a highly esteemed music artist and visual creative, to handle the animation. Over the past year, they dedicated themselves to bringing everything together, and finally deciding that the summer of 2023 would be the ideal time to unveil their masterpiece to the world.

Growing up in a music-centric family, Daniel’s love for music was ignited during his formative years, thanks to his mother’s role as a music teacher and church music director. In the late ’80s and early ’90s, he immersed himself in the world of underground music, exploring London’s record shops and pirate radio waves. This journey led him to discover the dynamic realms of Dance, Rave, Hardcore, Breakbeat, Jungle, Drum & Bass, and UK Garage.

Inspired by influential labels like Telstar, Naked Music, Good Looking Records, Moving Shadow, Ninja Tune, Ministry of Sound, Hed Kandi, Ohm Records, and XL Recordings, Daniel established NexGen Music, an esteemed record label boasting an impressive lineup of artists, musicians, and engineers. Beyond the realm of music production, his expertise in sound design has garnered attention from notable institutions such as the BBC, Lionsgate Films, Bravo, and VH1, with his work finding placements in film, TV, and interactive entertainment.
