In the vibrant streets of SoHo, a new chapter is being written for the renowned lifestyle and travel accessories brand, Herschel Supply. The brand, celebrated for its dedication to combining function with fashion, has opened a flagship store that’s more than just a retail space – it’s an ode to its origins and a fusion of design and history.
Located strategically at 543 Broadway, the 4,200-square-foot store isn’t just a testament to Herschel’s aesthetic and pays tribute to New York City’s rich architectural history. The space stretches from Broadway to Mercer Street, welcoming shoppers with dual entrances.
A Pacific Northwest Tribute in the Heart of NYC

As you step into the store, the design ethos is unmistakably Herschel. But what truly stands out is how seamlessly the interiors blend the brand’s Pacific Northwest roots with the essence of New York City.
Herschel Supply’s in-house team meticulously curated interior designs. Steven Wilde, Herschel Supply’s Director of Photography, contributes art that adorns the space. There’s also a nostalgic touch with the original “Herschel” road sign from Herschel, Saskatchewan, reflecting the brand’s deep-rooted family history.
The store houses custom-designed cedar sculptures stretching 6-7ft, originally crafted in Vancouver. Western red cedar grain, granite boulders for seating, and the raw appeal of concrete floors with exposed brick walls, stripped to their authentic form, all coalesce to give customers an organic and urban experience.
Beyond Bags: An Immersive Shopping Experience
This flagship store goes beyond showcasing Herschel’s classic collection. It’s an immersion into the brand’s vision and innovation:
- Studio Collection: Exclusively available at the SoHo store, this in-house studio range is crafted from dead stock materials. It gives a contemporary twist to Herschel’s classic product range.
- New Classics: An environment-friendly initiative, the redesigned product line is made from EcoSystem™ recycled fabrics. To date, Herschel has recycled around 16 million post-consumer water bottles with this line.
- Heritage™ Hardshell Luggage: Crafted from 70% recycled post-use road barricade material, this luggage collection underscores Herschel’s commitment to sustainability without compromising on style.
- Herschel Supply Uniform™: The store will also showcase the brand’s apparel line.
From its inception in 2009, Herschel Supply has been redefining the bag category. Their distinct narrative, category expansions, and unique collaborations have continually set them apart. The SoHo store is just the beginning, with plans to open over 13 retail locations by 2023, focusing on pivotal locations in the US and Canada.
