‘The Way You Had Me’ is the beginning of what Kasbo calls a ‘new sonic journey’ for himself, exploring ‘the cathartic nature of dancefloor-driven music.’ He does not disappoint with smooth basslines, plucky electric guitars, and silky pads moving the track along a bit faster than his previous music. This is the perfect vibe to exit summer with, as this beautiful track still keeps the summer energy while calming things down a bit. He talks about his change in direction in the announcement of this newest single.
‘The Way You Had Me’ marked a major turning point for me creatively. I’d been struggling for months, if not years, to rediscover my place in the new and quickly changing electronic music landscape. This song felt like the beginning of me realizing that direction – covering new ground while still creating something that felt true to myself. The song itself is about a past relationship and coming to terms with a partner moving on. That period when you’re wondering if they’re just distracting themselves or if they’ve truly moved on, and questioning how what you had could be real if it could be forgotten so quickly… I’m so happy to finally be releasing music again and can’t wait to continue sharing this new era of inspiration with everyone. —Kasbo
During the pandemic, Kasbo spent more time DJing, typically being a live performer, during which he discovered his passion for mixing records and faster-paced music. While this is his first solo single in three years, he has released a number of collaborations including one with Louis The Child and EVAN GIIA.
He’ll be supporting Jai Wolf’s ‘Blue Babu’ tour which will have him stopping off at iconic venues including New York’s Brooklyn Mirage, and Los Angeles’ Greek Theatre, while playing a mix of DJ and live sets.

Kasbo’s return to the scene is very welcome, especially since his extremely talented and thoughtful album The Making Of A Paracosm. This change of sonic direction is sure to show just how wide the Swede’s talents stretch.
