Most known for his production work that took over the late 1990s and early 2000s radio waves, Scott Storch is a beat-making mastermind who continues to dominate today’s music industry. From his breakout tracks with Dr. Dre and Beyoncé to his recent projects with Trippie Red, Megan Thee Stallion, and Jack Harlow, there’s no denying his presence in hip hop.

While it’s easy to find Storch’s personal touch throughout music’s biggest hits, fans of the producer will be happy to learn that they can now find that same charisma and style in their studio. A recent collaboration with KRK led to the creation of the KRK Scott Storch CLASSIC 8ss Studio Monitors, the brand’s first-ever, limited-edition signature series―designed by the producer.

We could go right to the source to get some insight into the process behind the creation of Storch’s new namesake monitors and learn more about what makes these speakers so special.

Can you walk us through your collaboration with KRK to create this signature model?

It was pretty straightforward. KRK initially reached out to me with the opportunity to collaborate and we discussed that I would be the first record producer to have their speaker line. That was very cool and edgy to me. I immediately was interested, especially because KRK is the speaker of choice for me—for my midfield, I always use KRK monitors.

We worked on the design portion of the Gibson showroom in Miami, where I’m based. It was incredibly cool to be able to choose the colors and whole vibe of the monitors. And then being able to put my icon on them it was just incredible.

How does this special edition model embody your distinctive style and fashion taste?

The Scott Storch 8ss monitors are very sleek and streamlined. They remind me of my sunglasses, which is such a vibe. I love the colors—they’re very neutral, which I’m into. I didn’t want to create a speaker that wouldn’t work in some studios. To me, the 8ss monitors look like something that could work anywhere.

As a producer, why do you prefer the CLASSIC 8 model for your studio?

The KRK CLASSIC series builds off the brand’s original ROKIT design, which I love. The ROKITs (and CLASSICs) have always been accurate and dependable, even in just okay environments. They still have a great bass response if I’m not using a sub. My tracks sound the same in my car as when I listen to them on a cell phone, and they sound good! So that tells me that it’s not only a very accurate speaker but also one that’s aesthetically pleasing to the ear.

How do you think the Scott Storch CLASSIC 8ss sets itself apart from other studio monitors in the market?

Scott Storch designs them! But really, they’ve got such a vibe—they’re super dope. I don’t think I’ve ever seen speakers that look like the Scott Storch CLASSIC 8ss monitors. It’s an excellent piece of gear for people trying to have a unique studio that looks different.

What impact do you hope the Scott Storch Classic 8ss will have on the music industry and upcoming artists?

I mostly hope that everyone will enjoy the speakers. I also think that sometimes people can forget what certain artists have contributed to the music business, so for me, this feels like a great opportunity to leave my footprint behind on upcoming producers. It’s like I’m getting my flowers again.
