Beyerdynamic, a global leader in audio solutions for live music and studio professionals, has officially announced the availability of its newly updated M Series microphones. Originally debuted at NAMM 2023, the revamped series retains the classic acoustic signature while introducing a sleek, unified design. Manufactured at the company’s site in Heilbronn, Germany, the M Series—featuring models like the M 160, M 88, and M 201—has been a staple in audio history, accompanying iconic artists from Jimi Hendrix to Dua Lipa.

The M Series microphones offer unparalleled flexibility for various audio applications such as percussion, piano, bass, choir, and speech. What sets beyerdynamic apart is its unique in-house production process. “While other manufacturers rely on external suppliers for components like circuit boards and membranes, we manufacture these sound-relevant components ourselves,” said Thorsten Bender, Director of Production at beyerdynamic.

Among the updated line-up are the M 130 and M 160 double ribbon microphones, a testament to beyerdynamic’s intricate craftsmanship. The production complexity of these models requires a specialized skill set, which the company cherishes and intends to maintain in the new series. The update also aims to streamline various elements of production and servicing without sacrificing quality.

Starting at $249, the M Series microphones are now available on beyerdynamic’s e-shop. The company has also announced that the revamped design includes changes to the printing on the mics and the heritage band, highlighting their German origin. Still, it leaves sound-relevant components untouched to preserve the proven sound signature. The facelift is designed to bring the M Series into the future, featuring improved production processes that facilitate the work of their skilled personnel.

Beyerdynamic has been synonymous with top-notch audio products since 1924. With this update, the company strengthens its commitment to delivering exceptional audio solutions that meet the evolving needs of sound professionals worldwide. Whether you’re a musician, producer, or audio technician, the new M Series promises to uphold beyerdynamic’s legacy of sound excellence.
