Toby explains how he turned his inspiration into text. “The lyrics came to me all naturally since I wanted to stay honest and paint a picture of my feelings for my partner.”, he says. “Love is a complex topic to write about; there’s so many feelings and things I wanted to say so the first step was to identify the specific aspects I have in my relationship with my partner and then write about what I found most noticeable.”

As Toby worked on “Holiday,” he focused on painting a vivid picture with his words and melodies. He wanted listeners to feel like they were with him, experiencing the adventure of a lifetime.

“After the lyrics were done, I wanted to paint a picture musically where the audience can immerse themselves into the lyrics. I wanted to use warm and welcoming chords and a relaxing but exciting groove that would glue the lyrics and the meaning behind it together. 

Even though it’s a pretty simple song, it took me over six months from start to finish since I always ended up changing stuff around and figuring out how I could get the instrumental to match with the lyrics more smoothly. Finding the right singer for the song was probably the most difficult task since I needed somebody who could bring my emotions in the song into life. That’s why I went with Daniel since he brings so much soul into his vocal performance.”

“The first person I showed the song to was, of course, my partner, and she loves it, which is the most important thing for me.”, Toby explains. “I also showed it to a bunch of friends and played it a few times live, and everyone has been really positive about it and even asked where they could find the song. And that is a huge compliment to an artist when you’re listening to a song they haven’t released yet!”
