Las Vegas-based artist Hekler is back on Bassrush Records, revealing his latest creation, the five-track EP HEK SZN, following his earlier lead single “BUMPIN” alongside BLVCK JVCK, and his debut album ABYSS earlier this year. The EP kicks off with “Work It,” an upbeat track that combines nostalgic elements with breakbeat drums and classic jungle vocal samples, showcasing Hekler’s versatility.

“BUMPIN,” clearly the standout of the EP, is a genre-blending, festival-ready banger with a swaggering hip-hop beat and grimace-inducing dubstep drops. Hekler describes it as one of his favorite tracks to play in his sets, capturing energetic studio vibes.

Collaborating with BLURRD VZN, “BRAINS” offers a mind-melting bass experience with minimal mastery and hip-hop vocal samples, making it a terrifically weird and experimental creation. As Hekler’s personal favorite, it brings hip-hop-inspired vibes to the forefront.

“BOUND” takes a different turn, featuring an enamouring vocal performance by MADI. Her emotional delivery pairs with a dubstep drop, combining laser synths, punchy drums, and grimy low-end. Hekler explains how this track, created five years ago, was reimagined for the EP.

Closing out the EP is “MANTRA,” highlighting Hekler’s sound design skills with a futuristic melody and filthy dubstep drops. It is a track that has been part of his live sets for years, and its release marks a fitting end to the project.

Hekler is vastly known for his diverse sound, pulling from hip-hop, dubstep, and ambient. He is set to perform at Escape Halloween and has graced stages at EDC Las Vegas, HARD Summer Music Festival, Red Rocks, and more. HEK SZN offers a buffet of bass for every music enthusiast.
