As the electronic dance music community continues to pulse with life, Kölsch, the Danish house and techno virtuoso, infuses fresh vibrancy with his latest album, “I Talk To Water,” released to coincide with the Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE) 2023. ADE’s landscape this year, rife with sold-out events and an unwavering spirit of connection, provided the perfect backdrop for the launch of Kölsch’s deeply personal narrative through sound, unveiled on the esteemed Kompakt label.
The album is a sonic tapestry interlacing the past and present, inspired by the transformative reflections of the artist during the solitude of lockdowns. With “I Talk To Water,” Kölsch ventures beyond the traditional confines of dance music, integrating recordings of his father’s guitar into a journey through memory and melody. Following his introspective revelations at ADE, the artist has set in motion a global tour that not only celebrates the album’s release but also promises to be a compelling showcase of Kölsch’s evolution as a producer and storyteller, capturing the optimistic future of dance music as seen through his eyes at ADE 2023.
1 – How do you think ADE 2023 was different this year than previous years?
It seemed to me that all events where sold out. People go to party and Connect. This year I launched my new album “I talk to water” at ADE, so i had some great smaller events, aswell as my bigger shows.
3 – What was your biggest takeaway from ADE about the future of dance music?
It looks very bright. The scene feels bigger than ever. There is room for all subgenres in Electronic music, and everyone seems to thrive.
4 – Were there any surprises about this year’s ADE that you did not expect?
I joined the demolotion Panel again. I hadn’t been part of it since 2016, and i was surprised of the quality of the productions. So much incredible talent out there.
5 – What are you most excited about in your own career after attending ADE 2023?
I’m super happy to have released my new album. It is focused around the passing of my father who was a musician and features recordings of him that are over 20 years old. Felt so good to finally release his music
