Dre Guazzelli, known under his progressive and melodic alias Drelirium, has been a powerhouse in the DJ scene since 2004, captivating audiences from São Paulo to Ibiza and even the Burning Man stages in the United States. Not just a musician, Dre is also an entrepreneur and visionary, steering his event agency INNER and his popular label party, Sábado Dre Tarde, to numerous sold-out events. His artistic spirit is evident in his projects, including the newly launched Drelirium, which reveals a more organic side of his production prowess.

Now based in São Paulo, Dre is the influential force behind some of the city’s biggest parties. His extensive performance background and entrepreneurial ventures have paved the way for remarkable opportunities and milestones in his career, establishing him as a leading figure in South America’s music scene. His latest venture is a return to David Hohme’s Where The Heart Is Records, marking another significant chapter with a two-track EP that showcases his undeniable skills. This release, which debuted late last week, serves as a testament to his complete artist profile. Join us as we delve into each track and discover why Dre Guazzelli’s latest work is capturing the attention of the global music community..

Ondas Do Oceano

The lead single off the EP takes a slightly slower tempo approach than the rest of Guazzelli’s catalog. The track is underpinned by a syncopated bass line that rolls its repetitive and enthralling rhythm as the rest of the pads, melodies, harmonies, and counter melodies weave in and out of the mix.

It’s a truly atmospheric release, which is a particular hallmark of this artist’s music. Even by his own standards, this has a certain sun-soaked etherealness to it that is as blissful and euphoric as it is intense and driving.

Guerra Fria

The follow-up track on the EP is a bit more club-friendly and driving, using syncopated synth stabs and plucks that are countered by bobbing bass lines. What’s most interesting about this track is that while most of the sounds included, from the bass plucks to the counter melodies, all seem like they’re grounded in some sort of acoustic instrumentation, they are all synthetic. It’s an interesting juxtaposition that really adds a unique quality to the track.

To keep the track interesting, vocal stabs, chops, FX, and stutters pockmark the soundspace and add interest and momentum to the track overall.
